Monty and Teresa Mortenson have been talking about doing a festival for many years. We wanted a place where we could camp, jam, and just have a wonderful time with some amazing bluegrass music playing on stage. The stage and seating area will be shaded and comfortable, the food will be delicious, and the music will be sweet! We hope this will be something you can’t wait to get back to year after year. Camping will open on Thursday at noon. Jamming anytime at camps as long as they are not near the stage.

On Sunday afternoons, the Hostel Café in Portland, Oregon provides a friendly setting for this TrailJams Irish traditional tune session. TrailJams is a music community focused on making acoustic music together outside for the enjoyment of the musicians and of people passing by. The cozy café makes a great place to keep the music going in the winter. In better weather, the tune playing moves out to the café’s courtyard. Guests of the Hostel Café and the adjoining Northwest Portland Hostel are likely to settle at one of the nearby tables to enjoy the music.
COVID Policy:
Please be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 if you are joining this session — that is a request, not a requirement.

Back by popular demand, we now announce the next irregular MUSIC IS BETTER THAN WHATEVER, SO WE‘RE GONNA‘ DO MUSIC PARTY. This totally amicable event will be held right here, 2626 Orchard Hill Place, Lake Oswego, OR 97035. We shall enjoy each other‘s arts, talents, and self-expression.
What kind of music? It doesn‘t matter much. Whatever kind of music we can make and share, we should make and share it and shape it into something that can brighten our respective musical journeys. No pressure, no anxiety. Anyone may abstain from any rendition without having to explain themselves.
The food situation will be similar to that of previous gatherings here -- some eats and drinks will be provided by us, and all attending are encouraged to bring whatever they wish to share and everything they do not care to do without. Warning: A five-pound cat lives here. If you have any severe cat allergy, you may want to skip this one. If you know any person who would add something by joining in with us, go ahead and bring them or invite them. Alcohol only in moderation; please neither smoking nor recreational drugs in the house. For accessibility, everything is on the first floor, but there is a single step up, about 6 inches, to get into the house.
Please reply by email if any questions or call us at 503-245-4070 (Al) or 503-752-3875 (Helen) if you lose your way getting here.

In the late ’60s, Bowers discovered music when he took up the guitar. “The roots of the music had gone real deep in me. Music was real fulfilling, unlike anything I had ever done before.” It wasn’t long before Bowers encountered the autoharp. “I ran into a guy that played several instruments and could get the harp in good tune. He played without any fingerpicks, just with his fingernails. He had a real sprightly style on it. It was the first time I’d heard someone play it in good tune and play it well. It opened my eyes and my ears. I went out and got one the next day.”
Bryan relocated to Seattle in 1971 and played for coins as a street singer and in bars for the right to pass the hat. In 1993, Bryan was the first living member inducted into the Autoharp Hall of Fame to stand only with Maybelle Carter, Kilby Snow, and Sara Carter.
